IBA Success Stories from around the world Print E-mail

CosmasCosmas Sebastian Atmadja. Cosmas was born in Surabaya, 1991. He is currently finishing year 9 in Santa Maria High School, Surabaya. During the last 3 years, he RECEIVED special tutoring from Wei Tsin Fu. Some of his achievements include: performing Mozart Piano Concerto in C Major with Surabaya Symphony Orchestra (SSO) in J.W. Marriot, Surabaya in 2002, and performing in Assembly Hall Jakarta Convention Centre. In 2003 he performed Grieg’s Piano Concerto in A Minor with THE SSO (Surabaya Symphony Orchestra) in a concert where he received MURI (Museum Record Indonesia) as the youngest pianist ever to perform with an orchestra without a score - for 35 minutes!

In 2004 and 2005, Cosmas collaborated with Jakarta Chamber Orchestra and with conductor, Mr. Avip P. in the performances of “Les Carnaval des Animax” and “Carmina Burana”. In August 2004, together with Nusantara Symphony Orchestra with conductor Mr. Edward Van Ness, Cosmas performed “Variation of Indonesia Pusaka” in presence of President Megawati Soekarno Putri, Ministers, and Ambassadors from various countries.


    
ThomasThomas Jagusch is 14 years old and was born in Reutlingen, Germany. He was able to skip two years of school and will therefore finish the German Abitur (grammar school diploma) IN three years. Thomas is one of IBA’s child prodigy students.
At the moment, Thomas is writing his first great composition, a piano concerto in G#-minor. His favourite pieces are: Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue” and Chopin’s 3 Etudes, Fantasy-Impromptu, Polonaises, Preludes and the Sonata in B-minor. After having played Rachmaninoff’s piano concertos number 1 and 2, he is about to learn piano concertos numbers 3 and 4 as well. Prokofieff’s piano concertos number 2 and 3 are also among his favourite pieces.

Thomas performed in our spectacular concert at the ABC in Ultimo in February 2006 and the Sydney Opera House in June 2006.
Besides music, his favourite subjects at school are Latin, Mathematics, Chemistry and Sports. His favourite sports are soccer, volleyball, table-tennis and badminton.
